Snowshoeing on Mount Seymour

Today all three of us accompanied some friends on a jaunt up to nearby Mount Seymour for snowshoeing. Of the three ski resorts overlooking Vancouver, Seymour is the easternmost, after Grouse. We got to the parking area fairly early in the morning and rented snowshoes. Here's Sarah in her full regalia, including the new puppy hat she got in a recent visit to Seattle.

A family portrait partway up with Vancouver in the background.

Here's some of our party nearing the summit of First Peak, our day's destination. It was a steep ascent - you didn't want to look down, or even sideways, while climbing.

Approaching the peak, with Ellena, Anna and Yann in the centre, and Sarah to the right.

There were some fabulous views from the peak. This is looking northeast.

The parking area, and behind it, Burnaby and other metro areas.

Downtown Vancouver and most of Stanley Park.

The downhill return was much easier. We went sliding quite often. For Sarah it was the most fun part.
